Charrul Malik’s Diwali plans include spending time with family, doing Lakshmi puja, lighting diyas and meeting her loved ones

It’s Diwali on October 24 and everyone around is excited. From shopping, visiting family and friends to eating out, people have made a list of things they would be doing to celebrate the festival. Celebs too are no different. Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain! actor Charrul Malik talks about her Diwali plans.

“We don’t have anything major on the list. We will meet our family in Mumbai, light diyas at home, do puja, eat sweets and forget about our diet. I’m guessing it is not going to be a working Diwali. And, I think spending time with family is a celebration in today’s time,” she says.

The news anchor turned actor will pray for all this Diwali. The festival means positivity and brings a ray of hope to her.

“It is the day to have a fresh start. In fact there is something that I have written on the significance of Diwali,” she reads out, “ फेस्टिवल्स तो एक बहाना है…लाइफ को थोड़ा चमकाना है ..कुछ नया घर लाना है ..घर को खूब महकाना है .. बढ़िया बढ़िया खाना है

त्यौहार होते है सेलिब्रेशन के मौके ..में तो कहती हू आप रोज़ लगायो चौके ..खुशियां सिर्फ त्यहारों पर ही क्यों ..सोचो रोज़ त्यौहार है जैसे !!

Cleaning the house is the ritual Charrul follows. “We also buy new clothes, and in the evening we do Lakshmi puja and keep one of our belongings which we use everyday like our wallet, book, laptop or phone on her feet and light diyas at home,” she adds.

Sharing her fondest childhood memories of Diwali, she says, “So my childhood memories have been grand in Chandigarh where we have a huge house. We decorate it with lights. We used to get tired lighting all the diyas at home in Chandigarh, it was that big. So that was a great feeling. My sister Parul and I used to wear similar dresses, like the same clothes, same colour, same fabric always,” she laughs softly.

So what are you planning to wear this year? “I’m going to wear something nice and comfortable and little bling so that it feels like Diwali. In case we are expecting some guests or going somewhere I will change into an Indian attire” she ends.
