Harjinder Singh is keyed up about his debut OTT project Inspector Avinash. In the web series, he plays the role of a young police officer, who is trying to prove his mettle in a team of accomplished policemen.
“To keep the suspense alive, I won’t be able to reveal too much about my part right now. What is mentioned is that it’s an intricately crafted character that adds much value to the story. It also adds a new layer to the story. I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to have got this part to portray on screen,” he says.
On pandemic reducing the work opportunities, Harinder adds that the entertainment industry works on the collaboration of a vast cast and crew. “A lot of things were under way before the pandemic hit us. The uncertainty has brought many productions to a standstill. Yes, I am grateful for bagging this charismatic role amid such times. Hopefully, the future will hold many more openings. Thanks to the tireless effort of our medical community,” he adds.
About the genres, he likes to watch on OTT, the actor shares that he enjoys watching everything. The reason being different things teach him different things.
“Whatever content that I watch in general, I’m not very picky in terms of genres. Ever since I’ve taken up acting professionally, I watch stories not only for entertainment but also for their technical nuances. That being said, I personally enjoy comedy and crime the most. I am a sucker for novelty storytelling, biopics, crime fiction, and suspense thrillers. Recently, I’ve watched Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen and enjoyed it,” he reveals.
The OTT boom is here to stay. And Harjinder adds that OTT has revolutionized our viewing experience.
“It’s made both small and big productions accessible and enhanced the diversity in content. On top of it OTT is easily accessible. However, going to the theatre is an experience that cannot be replaced. That outing planned to enjoy a film with friends and family, munching your popcorn, sipping on coffee, tea or some soft drink amid a like-minded theatre audience creates a different experience. So this will stay, so will OTT. Both will happily co-exist,” he adds.
