Kiran Raj: Youth takes social media too seriously

Ahead of National Youth Day on 12th January, actor Kiran Raj stressed on how youngsters take social media too seriously.

“Information is good, but too much information is hazardous to your mental health. These days the youth takes social media too seriously. Everything in limitation is good, overdose of anything is not good and so is social media. The youth needs to understand that social media is just a platform to showcase and advertise, and should not be followed blindly. It has its pros and cons too, so use it wisely,” he advised.

He feels that too much information is sometimes dangerous as it can lead to indecisiveness.

“Overdose of anything is never good. Nowadays people obsess about information as it’s easily available at your fingertips, but they need to understand their boundaries of believing it,” he said.

According to him, youth is the hope of our future. “That’s how it should be in every generation. With each passing generation the technology upgrades, so do the youth, who are the future,” he said.

It is believed that the youth can bring about a social change, but many times their political views affect it. “This clash is definitely bound to happen because all minds don’t think alike. But the youth today is very strong with strong opinions, and I think they should use it for the betterment of our society by balancing their political views,” he said.

The advancement in technology has made things easy for them, and he thinks it’s not a bad thing. “You have the technology, use it. After all, if we have advanced and have the luxury of technology, we should utilise it for good, otherwise why was it invented at the first place,” he said.

He also has an advice for the youth. “Stay content. The youth of today get influenced very easily, and they need to understand the boundary between the good and the bad. We have technology and information, utilise them the right way. Don’t misuse them and don’t get over-influenced by them. And try and work for the betterment of the society, it’s the need of the hour,” he said.
