Rajit Dev on choreographing the Radha song: Sometimes you know the experience is going to be special, that was the vibe throughout

Dhvani Bhanushali’s Radha song has been garnering good response on YouTube with views crossing over six million and counting. Apart from the music and lyrics, the choreography is also being praised. And choreographer Rajit Dev could not have asked for more. Soaking in all the love, Dev expresses how grateful he is and also has nice things to say about his experience, Bhanushali, the director and cinematographer as well.
“It was a great experience working with Dhvani. She’s smart, talented and eager to learn. Dhvani is one of India’s youngest pop sensations whose songs have got like two billion views on YouTube. She’s extremely hardworking and a diligent student. We rehearsed for five days and on the final day, she actually finished shooting the track at one go. This itself is an achievement,” he says.

Dev adds that it is a rare combination that a good singer is also an excellent dancer. “Dhvani has great potentials and keeps on pushing herself to do the best. She is going to go far and do much better in coming times,” he adds. Reacting to the positive response around the song, the choreographer shares that his first instinct when he heard the track was that this is going to be an amazing journey. “I fell in love with the track and was immediately up for it. Sometimes you know from the beginning that the experience is going to be special, that’s the kind of vibe I got from Radha since day one. The lyrics and feel of the song were touching. I felt connected with the song so much that it made things easier for me while choreographing,” he adds.

Dev took a day to design the steps along with his assistants. “We then showed it to the director and took his inputs. So the final choreography was ready in two days,” he reveals. The video was in Alibaug as they wanted to make “it look different than the usual” dance video. “The outdoor locations gave us that natural vibe and feel. The beach, sand, the forest, the barren land and natural lights made it look earthy and beautiful. Karan Kapadia’s direction and Ravi Verman sir’s cinematography did magic. No doubt listeners are loving the song,” he ends.
