Reyen Eyes on how his family played a crucial role in his musical journey

Maaf Karna and Dard singer Reyen Eyes has shared how his family’s interest in music helped him in building his career in singing.

He was in school when he realised that he wanted to make a career in singing. “I was still in school around three years back and I realised what I am listening to is also something I can create. I have the skills to do it. When something you love can become your profession, you can not be more blessed,” he said.

His grandfather and father have an interest in music too. “Growing up listening to good music, playing every instrument I could find in my school’s music room, participating in every singing competition and trying all the instruments that your father plays makes the interest and skills noticeable at an early age. My grandfather sang so well but was busy working for the better of his future generations. I am the first one in my family who gets to focus 100% on music,” he shared.

His sister Aishe is also into music. “She is also a singer/songwriter. A wonderful artist with a distinctive style. She always keeps me backed up. I guess she was the first one to say in our family that music can be a career to pick. It must have left an image in my mind, to consider when I had a career to choose,” he said.

He believes that having a family background in music helps. “I share my work with them, and I can even expect technical suggestions. It is so easy to explain what you have been doing, what is your progress,” he said.

In the music industry, the competition is cut-throat. Anyone and everyone is getting into the music industry, so competition is very tough. “Yes, I agree. But there is a sandstorm. When the dust settles, the real ones would be standing. Or at least I hope so,” he said.
