Shubhashish Jha – My character Jijaji is special because he’s innocent yet naughty and his too much speaking habit gets him into trouble

After Jiji Maa and his upcoming film Hurdang, Shubhashish Jha will is seen winning hearts with his performance as Jijaji in the show Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai produced by EDITII (Benaiferrand Sanjay Kohli). The actor is content with the response and is working all the harder to keep the entertainment quotient high. To begin with, one wonders how he landed the show.

“I auditioned for it in September and only got a call around the end of November saying I got shortlisted. I also cleared the mock shoot in December then in January things got finalised. It’s a nice comedy show having the element of spook. My character Jitendra Jamvant Jindal aka Jijaji is very special because he is sweet and innocent but speaks a lot. And there are times when he’s too much talking hurts leads to him hurting people unintentionally. He is at times naughty too,” says Jha.  The actor is all praises for his co-star Hiba Nawab, who plays the female lead in the show, and also producers Benaiferr Kohli and Sanjay Kohli.  “Hiba is cool and makes you feel comfortable. We have developed a good working relationship. She is talented and is a very supportive co-actor. When it comes to working with
Edit-II, I must admit that it is possibly the best working experience of my life. Binaiferr ma’am and Sanjay Sir are very encouraging. The vibe in our set is good and conducive for comedy. The entire team is professional, they make you comfortable and maintain a pleasant atmosphere on the set,” he adds.

Jha feels the show is unique because of the genre it explores. “You don’t get to see a lot of horror comedies on TV, so this one has something new to offer. The dialogues, approach and performances also make the experience different,” he says.  Talking about shooting in the new normal, the actor adds, “It’s good and we’ve no complaints because we are shooting in a very comfortable environment with all precautions in place. We all are very grateful that we are getting to work at such difficult times.”  Happy with all the opportunities he is getting as an actor, Jha feels grateful. He has always had a creative mind. So in case, acting did not work out for him he would have become a singer.

“I love singing but I never considered taking singing as a profession. But yes if not an actor I could have been a singer. I am a qualified computer engineer and already had got a job offer which I eventually didn’t take or else I would have been doing that as well. There are many things that I might have done, probably writing or direction. But all these are probabilities if acting did not work out for me. Thankfully it did and I am ever grateful,” he concludes.
