Though Cheeru’s death left us with a heavy heart, these on-screen performances deserve an applause

Rajan Shahi’s “Woh Toh Hai Albelaa” saw a big twist in the recent episodes as Cheeru (played by Anuj Sachdeva) breathed his last. Well, his death scene was undoubtedly an emotional one after all Cheeru has set a benchmark for all elder siblings around the world. But what followed his death was several awe-worthy performances given by the cast of the show.

“Woh Toh Hai Albelaa” features Shaheer Sheikh and Hiba Nawab in lead roles. Their characters, Kanha and Sayuri, were very close to Cheeru, as he was Kanha’s elder brother and someone whom he looked up to, and he was Sayuri’s love with whom she wanted to spend her whole life. It was Cheeru and Sayuri’s wedding day when their world came crashing down as Kanha and Cheeru met with an accident and Cheeru died on Kanha’s lap. Following his death, the “albelaa” Kanha had to suddenly take care of his whole family. With so many responsibilities on his shoulder, Kanha did not even get time to mourn his brother’s death.

Meanwhile, Sayuri is devastated as little did she know that she will lose the love of her life on her wedding day. Hiba gave an outstanding performance in the scene where she refused to remove her wedding attire and accept that Cheeru is no more in this world. Later, Kanha came to her and asked her to see his Cheeru bhaiya one last time, because after that even when she pleaded he will not be able to take her to him. Both Kanha and Sayuri, who have hated the sight of each other, connected over their loss, and grieved together.

Later, when Kanha brings Cheeru’s ashthi home, he goes to Sayuri and tells her that he will never be able to overcome this loss. Kanha then breaks into tears as he finally mourned Cheeru’s death. Shaheer’s performance in this particular scene must be one of the most memorable ones of his career. It looked so real and he made it so believable.

Pallavi Pradhan too needs a special mention. The actress plays Saroj, Cheeru’s mother, and her performance in these scenes is noteworthy. Also, when she blames Kanha for Cheeru’s death, her act will give you goosebumps.

Next week onwards, the audience will get to see a new side of Kanha, a mature and responsible one. He will also vow to take care of Sayuri as promised to his Cheeru bhaiya. It will be interesting to see how their life takes a new turn and they fall in love with each other. To know how and when that happens keep watching “Woh Toh Hai Albelaa”
