During the pandemic, I learned cooking on video calls with my mom, bhabhi and sister: Jai Singh

“Ishq Par Zor Nahi” actor Jai Singh revealed that he knew the basics of cooking since a very young age, but he became a pro during the lockdown last year. He said, “Since mom was working we all used to cook. But I could just cook basic stuff in my college days. In the pandemic I learned it on video calls with my mom, bhabhi and sister. I don’t let my house help cook now/if I invite friends for dinner. I can make nice paneer makhani, pulao, round rotis, laccha paratha, dal dhokli and lots of other dishes. But I miserably fail when it comes to rajma. Nothing beats mom ke haath ka rajma.” Though he is a self-confessed foodie, he indulges in cheat meals only on Sundays.  “I am a foodie, and I wait for Sundays to get spoiled. I have aloo paratha white makkhan or aloo puri. But for the rest of the week, I eat light and healthy,” he said. Jai, like many other celebrities, avoids sugar in his meals and instead eats dates, figs, fruits and jaggery whenever he wants to eat something sweet. But it’s a big no-no for him when it comes to having outside food.  “I  love ghar ka khana. Not a big fan of bahar ka khaana. I have done it all during my college days. Once in a while I do visit my favourite restaurants. Also, I mostly do my grocery shopping myself, and I like doing it. Only when I am busy, I know vendors who deliver it fresh,” Jai concluded.
