Himansh Kohli: For years, we had only daily soaps for women, not any more!

Be it intriguing series on OTT or innovative content on TV, women now have a range of options to watch, besides saas-bahu sagas, says actor Himansh Kohli. This Women’s Day, he talks about how things are slowly changing for the better in the industry.
“For an Indian adult woman, the only relevant thing to watch before were daily soaps, but now you have so many films and TV shows, in fact, a separate category with numerous options for women-related content on all streaming platforms. We haven’t perfected it yet, but I think we have come a long way and will continue to become a better society,” he says. In fact, he says that even as an artist, things are looking up where equality is concerned. “Although every industry has its share of evils, I think the film industry is the first to bring about change and set a precedent. You can be of any gender, but your stardom is only determined by your craft. I’m glad to see more cinema being made around women empowerment and raising awareness around evils such as women safety,” he says.
