Eerie quiet hits as he nears. “Reet!” echoes his yells in the freezer chill. Spots a locked door—panic mode, smashes it wide with every ounce left.
Boom—Reet’s out cold amid corpses. He’s wrecked: rage, shock, total powerlessness. Scoops her up, howling her name, pleading “Wake up!” Nightmare real— she was right there, hidden by some sicko.
