Rahul Bhatia started his YouTube channel in 2020 when the lockdowns were imposed in India to control the spread of the coronavirus. The actor-host-VJ shares that having nothing to do, he was getting bored at home and decided to do something to entertain many others like him.
“First I started with Vlogs, then when I got married, I started with prank videos. So we made separate channels for vlogs and pranks. We named the channel for Vlogs as ‘Meenakshi Rahul Bhatia’ and the channel streaming Entertainment and pranks videos is ‘VJ Rahul Bhatia’,” he says.
As a couple managing the channels has become easier. “Usually you’ve seen YouTubers single-handedly shoot videos and then edit it. Things get easier when we both work together. The benefit of this is that our chemistry gets better in personal life as well. Another thing is that we have to invest the same amount of time as I also have other commitments. I have to go to the office and the time left after coming home is my personal time and that’s when we make content for our channels. By that time Meenakshi also finishes her work,” he shares.
Rahul shares that as partners they work in coordination and there have been no differences between them. We internally decide that one of us will give direction. So when I’m giving ideas and directions, she agrees to it and vice versa. We do not interrupt into each other’s space,” he adds.
The good news is that ‘VJ Rahul Bhatia’ has crossed 200k subscribers. “We literally started from 0 and since then we could manage till here. We have a family of 2 lakh people and I want to thank them all. I’m grateful for their love but this is just a milestone, we have a long way to go. We have to achieve 1 Million, then 10 Million and more,” he shares.
Rahul also got a silver button from YouTube for the channel. “So when we completed 1 lakh subscribers, between 10-15 days, we received our award. It was a wonderful feeling because it was our first recognition from YouTube. We will receive a lot of awards in future but the charm of receiving your first award is different. So that was very beautiful,” he sounds happy.
On the importance of recognition as a YouTuber, Rahul says, “I believe it is necessary because earlier being a YouTuber or TikToker, people didn’t like it. But now if someone is a YouTuber, people give respect and they enjoy watching different content.”
