Bhumika Chawla: When one feels one’s worth is in the number of likes then one’s worth is very shallow

Be it the south industry or Bollywood actress Bhumika Chawla has made quite a name for herself. She says that while visibility for an actor is important, it is not worth measuring one’s success according to popularity on social media.

South films are getting deserved recognition after Bahubali, Pushpa and KGF, you have been doing south films for a long time so how do you react to that?
It is natural to feel good that South films are getting much more recognition now than ever before … though they were always recognised and loved, now it’s on a larger scale. My career started with Telugu Films and I have not given ever since date and I have been working on many south films including films in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and it has been a good experience.

How tough is it to balance both Bollywood and South films? Which do you give priority to?
It’s not difficult to balance both Bollywood and South. I would not be able to select between either or and say that I prefer working in one. Each film, each language, each team, and set offers you different experiences. Life is all about experiences and being able to work with good people is a blessing.

We see a huge crossover between Bollywood stars and south stars like RRR… What is your take on that?
It’s good to have a crossover cast in films. It brings larger audiences as each actor brings along their fans and viewers.

Hindi films are seeing a tough time at the BO – do you feel it’s just a phase?
It’s a phase where there are films that have done well also. It’s all a passing phase. One big hit and the media and people will talk about it.

You still chose to be low profile would you call yourself an introvert or extrovert and why?
I am a mix of an introvert and an extrovert depending on the situation. Though I am on social media, I still like my personal life very personal and try to keep it lowkey. When I am working on a film, I feel nice talking about that. Staying connected with my well-wishers is something that I occasionally do.

Visibility in the industry is one of the prime ways of being in the news what’s your take?
I agree with the fact that visibility is important — but one cannot be part of each and every project to get visibility. We can be visible through social media as well, though I feel, at times, too much social media can also be tiring, to say the least. When one feels one’s worth is in the number of likes then one’s worth is very shallow.

What are the things which you want to learn now and why?
I want to keep learning and when I start my next learning process, I share that with my fans. Until till, I hope my fans stay blessed and live each moment to the fullest .. and be in the here and now.
