Donating money, attending events and planning an interesting PR strategy around it is easy, but devoting time to a cause is the real deal: Charrul Malik

If there is one thing that Charrul Malik is passionate about other than acting, it is her love for dogs. Little wonder that it is the cause for street dogs that is closest to her heart. She shares, “The one cause I want to work for is for stray dogs. I’m a pet parent and a dog fancier. I absolutely admire my colleague and friend, actress Jaya Bhattacharya, who has dedicated herself to this cause. She works relentlessly towards the betterment of pets, stray dogs, and rescuing birds. She has been doing it for years and spends a major part of her earnings on rescuing animals and taking care of them. I, too, would love to work towards this cause. I feel that this cause should be associated with events so that there is more awareness around it and more people come forward to help our furry friends.”

The actress, who features in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! and Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, feels that celebrities need to walk the talk and not just endorse these causes for effect. A lot of groundwork is needed to make people believe in these causes. She says, “I have seen instances when celebrities are invited to events to promote a certain cause but they are clueless about it. That includes me as well. However, the need of the hour is to associate star-studded events with various causes. That way, we won’t just educate ourselves but also our audience. What’s also important is getting regular updates regarding the cause. So, if every celebrity, who attends any event that propagates a cause, pays attention to it, and keeps a check on the progress, it will make a huge difference. Donating money, attending events, and planning an interesting PR strategy around it is easy, but devoting time to a cause is the real deal.”
