Ekta Sharma: An actor should be able to do any role

Actress Ekta Sharma, who was last seen in the show Bepanah Pyaar and Mann Sundar, says that nowadays there are so many more platforms for actors to showcase their craft on. This was not the case earlier.

“I started with ads and my first ad was BSA Ladybird and then I did an episodic. I was part of Daddy Samjha Karo. Anand Mahendroo was looking for three girls and I was one of the girls. Then I got the Balaji show Kkusum. The TV industry has evolved drastically. When I started, there was no Facebook and Instagram. And there were not so many award functions. There were limited channels. Now there are so many channels and social media platforms. We can make auditions from home and send there are much more opportunities now for actors,” she says.

The actress says that she has always been fond of portraying negative roles on screen. “I have done a lot of negative roles. I like to do them as there is a lot to emote in these roles. I have also done positive roles but I love doing comedy, as I started my career with comedy but an actor should be able to do any role,” she says.

Daily soaps are demanding, says Ekta, adding, “I agree but that’s the way it is. We have to deliver episodes to the channel, even if it’s raining or if there is a storm, people still get entertained the whole week because of daily soaps.”
