Everyone wants to be in the news; Celebs react to overexposure on social media

Relationships, breakups, and affairs get hyped with the social media culture. On one side celebrities keep saying they want to keep their personal life personal and on the other side they keep posting hints, clues and even pictures in the public domain to create curiosity/hype. Here’s why this happens!

Celebrities are humans too, who feel the same emotions like any other person. When they are happy dating someone, they want to talk about it and display their affection as any other person would. But their relationships too (like any other relationship) can go kaput and then they are trolled and judged far more than others. When things are fine, like a regular person, they want to flaunt it. But the trolling that might happen scares them. ‘Too much’ is what one can’t handle. Your too much is always going to be different than mine

We generally get to know a lot about actors and about each other through social media. We get to know the birthdays, anniversaries, breakups, patchups, engagements, marriages, etc. People have started making everything public. Celebrities say that they want to keep their lives personal but they share everything publicly by giving hints as they want to keep themselves in the news. For people who are in the entertainment line, these things have become necessary. They think that jo dikta hai woh bikta hai. So, they are selling their emotions, routines, plans and everything. This thing has become like a business and people have started taking it seriously. In today even the stars have that hunger to keep their things viral. I also feel that if I post something then it should reach the masses but where it is required to keep things personal, I maintain and balance it out. I always try to keep my personal life separate. Celebrities have become addicted to staying in the limelight, they say something but do something else.

Yes, that’s true these days relationships and breakups are trending. These are trending words for a few people. Everyone has their personal point of view. There are lots of actors who create rumours for popularity and they enjoy this in the public domain. But apart from that, there are other actors also who really want privacy and they don’t want any buzz/curiosity in their life. See, everyone has their personal choice. Personally, I don’t like it.

To each his own. Every person has the right to post what they want to on their personal social media account, be it a celebrity or any other person until, unless they’re hurting someone’s sentiments or beliefs. I personally don’t want to announce to and hide from the world about who I am dating as I am a little superstitious and when I will get married then everybody will know. Social media for actors like me is a professional demand now and a way to promote your work and skills and interact with people who are following you as I feel a sense of responsibility towards them. So, I sometimes do post about my personal life like what I am eating and where I am travelling. But of course, not about who I am dating and all and don’t respond to such questions as well. So, I am active on social media in my own lazy way. Having said that, I really miss the time when there was no social media and stars used to have an aura of exclusivity around them.

I would say when one feels unheard then they use social media for one’s thoughts, I really do not feel that this is something which we should not do, social media is to be used in a fair way. Social media is a democratic platform where anyone can share his or her thoughts genuinely, everyone has relationships problems. I don’t believe in hiding relationships or breakups, if you can put happy joyful captions and pictures on social media, then when you are sad or are not enjoying the phase of your life, you should put that one too. This is what life is all about.

In the digital age that we live in today, I believe that social media is a necessity. I myself tried to keep it away and not consider it important for a long time but over time I realised that to keep up with the trends of today and for growing your business or yourself, it is important that we embrace it. Having said that, I believe, social media has been both a curse and a boon. If used the right way, it is a boon to create awareness, bring the world closer, understand our environment and society better, and most importantly, aid a business or an artist to have a medium for showcasing his/her talent. At the same time, it’s a curse when used unethically, be it by celebrities, by an extremist or by a group to spread fake news/hatred leading to misguidance. Yes, in today’s day and age, one is exposed to the public to a greater extent and there’s a lack of personal space and that’s where I believe a balanced and mature use of social media can come in handy. In the end, it is about finding that right balance similar to how we try to balance out our work and personal life. I think, embracing social media as a part of your life without making it a core around which your life revolves around is the right recipe to sustain this digital age and actually use it the right way.
