“I am happy with everything that I have done so far, but some of them are obviously extra special. Initially it was every project I was a part of that felt prominent. But today when I look back there’s only one project that I feel still holds prominence and I would choose to do it if it is offered to me even today. It is my second Marathi film, Paach Naar Ek Bezaar. It was my dream project. It fulfilled all the criteria I had in mind as a lead actor — the Grandeur of the film, the outdoor shooting in the valleys of Dharmshala, grooving in slow-motion dance performance for one of the songs, wearing glamorous outfits, the grand publicity, and the response after release,” she says.
Harshali also adds that all the other Marathi and Kannada films, TV projects, TVCs and OTT projects that she has done so far have helped her evolve as an actor.
Meanwhile, Harshali has shot for a number of OTT projects and is awaiting for them to be released, one after another. She has also got a few film and TV offers.
On the kind of work she is interested in doing, the actor says, “I’m not seeking anything in particular, but yes I’m interested in doing anything and everything that is deep and meaningful, where I have scope to perform and able to connect with the character. Genre doesn’t matter. It could be sci-fi, thriller, mystery, suspense, biography or a travel film. I feel drawn to anything that is unconventional, original, meaningful, message driven and motivational. It has to be a film or an OTT project limited series. I’m not sure about taking up an unlimited TV project right now, but dancing, singing or vegan based cooking reality shows would be great.”
Talking about the kind of changes she has seen in the industry over the years, Harshali adds, “The involvement of social media has changed things drastically for sure. When I started, there was no WhatsApp. Casting directors sent audition updates via SMS or calls. Hardcopies of portfolio pictures were shared. Today it’s only soft copies shared via WhatsApp. So things have become easy. Today everyone knows everyone, thanks to different social media platforms. Everybody is easily approachable now. One could share their talents on social media posts. It’s a good time to start or even restart. As far as people in showbiz are concerned, it really depends on how you are as an individual, how you conduct yourself, how you take things. The same applies in day-to-day life too.”
