“Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai” fame actor Subuhii Joshii feels issues such as mental health, depression is very much prevalent in the entertainment industry.
Mental health means the most to Subuhii, who has witnessed a low phase in her life. “I have seen a phase where I was not mentally healthy and that affected my physical health, my everything. So when you’re not mentally healthy I believe you cannot function,” she says. The actor believes depression and anxiety happens a lot in this glamorous industry.
“People think you have a lot of friends, you party so much but the reality is people are very lonely here. You don’t have a lot of people to talk to, people too don’t have time for it, besides there are people, who don’t want to talk about it,” Subuhii explains. According to Subuhii, there’s a lot of uncertainty in the industry and that often leads to stress. “It is a very uncertain field like we don’t have a fixed work, today you have a big show tomorrow you have nothing. Today you’re a star tomorrow you’re nothing…all that definitely gives you a lot of stress,” she says. Subuhii asserts committing suicide due to depression, no work or any other reason is unacceptable.
“I have been through a lot of stuff but suicide is not the solution it’s very sad when people especially all these youngsters take such a step. But the thing is we can’t understand what are they going through when a person commits suicide. They reach their saturation point,” she says. “I feel whenever you feel low or have suicidal thoughts talk to someone and if there is no one go for therapy,” she adds.
Subuhii says people often pay more attention to having a good physique than to mental health and that there is a need to educate everyone about it from the right age. “I think it (mental health) should be a subject in school and colleges where they should teach you how important is your mental health. If they will teach us the importance of it since the beginning then as we grow up it is all much better,” he adds.
For good mental health, Subuhii says there is a need to be self-sufficient, besides self-love also plays an important role. “When we feel it’s good to love other people but you should also love yourself first and that will really help you in keeping proper mental health,” he adds.
The actor further says to lift her mood she would work out, do meditation, confide in almighty and her mother.
“Meditation is not easy it’s a very difficult thing which I realized when I started doing it. It’s an art you cannot keep your mind blank and I don’t think many people can do it, for meditation you have to forget about your stress you have to be very calm but if you master this skill definitely it helps taking care of your mental health,” she adds.
