Reyen Eyes: The youth should dream big

National Youth Day is observed on 12th January, and Maaf Karna singer Reyen Eyes says regarding the youth that the world is their Oyster.

He thinks that age shouldn’t matter, the intention and talent should. “I don’t think the youth is the ‘only’ hope for our future. These days, there are a lot of grown-ups finally finding the time to try their hand at new things and they are excelling at them. That said, in a comparative and practical sense, youth is the future in a way as the world is their oyster,” he said.

On being asked whether youngsters are over-exposed to information and social media, he says “I would simply suggest them to be aware of their sources of information, and make the right judgement on how to treat the information. Even when it comes to entertainment, I think over the time, hobby-creators will be normalised and devalued. There will be an even more distinguishable line between art and content,” he said.

We asked him his thoughts on whether too much information sometimes becomes dangerous as it can lead to indecisiveness. Here is what Reyen Eyes replied “Everything is new the first time it’s encountered, right? It is a process. People will try different things but ultimately stick with the ones worth it,” he said.

The youth can bring about a social change, but many times their political views affect it. “I think this particular point is not specific to the youth. Young people are just a bit less experienced and new to things. They have brought about a lot of amazing changes, and I hope they will continue to do so, with or without a political perspective, but with a calm and wholesome perspective for sure,” he said.

The advancement in technology is believed to have made youngsters lazy. “Not specific to youth again,” he said with a laugh.

“I think the newer generations are more privileged. Possibly, that makes them lazy in some areas. But all I can hope for is that they strive and work hard,” he added.

He would suggest youngsters to take the right stance and dream big. “If you dwell where your purpose demands, the world will be a better place. Make decisions fast, confidently, consciously and rightfully. Do what makes you happy. Your personality reflects on the whole planet in the big picture,” he said.
